David S. Kafel
Executive Designer
Designer David S. Kafel, from Kingston, NY, has worked for Bryland since 2006. He leads the design work of the office in collaboration with Bryan and also helps in marketing, client relations, and field management. David's passion for design in both residential and commercial areas is exhibited in the projects he has worked on with Bryan.
David is a 2009 graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute's School of Architecture in Troy, NY. He holds a Professional Bachelor's degree in Architecture and a minor in Organizational/Industrial Psychology. His academic work focused on the integration of architecture and engineering, which gained him a grant to travel in Spain for 10 days for the Bedford Traveling Workshop. His Final Thesis, "Tensegrity Network as an Organizational and Spatial Influence," was nominated for the Peck Thesis Prize from the RPI School of Architecture and was given the Architecture Faculty Award. Recently he entered the Innovative Design Competition for the Houston Chapter of the National Organization of Minority Architects and was chosen to display his work at the Texas Society of Architects/AIA 70th Annual Convention, coming in at the top eight.
David is working towards his architectural licensure, which he hopes to obtain in the coming years. He works towards the betterment of energy efficient design and construction and wants to see Bryland at the top of Green Design. His work can be seen here:
